why this exists

yay for first posts! (raises rapidly emptying wineglass)

I have a love-love relationship with food. I'm often thinking of the next meal before the current one hits the plate. I frickin' love food. a binder full of scribbled copies of recipes lives near the oven, I've got pinterest boards dedicated to every segment of a meal, and I've got ideas of my own in my head. I've been messing around in the kitchen forever, and have lately started to feel like I've come a long way.

without fail, each time I make a given dish, I find something that makes me say "next time, I'll..." do/add/change something. add more salt. take the meat off the heat after three minutes instead of five. crank up the oven. cool it on the chili powder. the list goes on...

so, this will serve as a journal of notes to self, on which I'll review the recipes I've found, honestly assess my own work with them, and create my own little collection of personalized dishes. I'll probably also rave or rage on fun things I try (like the Tabasco creme pie I ate last week!), so I hope you enjoy it. if not, that's cool...more for me.
